The Sr. US Accounting Specialist is responsible for reviewing and quality-checking accounting work prepared by the bookkeeping team for US-based clients. The role focuses on reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, AP/AR, payroll, and month-end close activities to ensure accuracy and completeness. The person will also guide junior bookkeeping staff, identify and resolve discrepancies, support client communication, and ensure accounting deliverables meet CFOLogic’s quality and compliance standards before they are shared with clients.
What you'll do
Your Key Responsibilities
1. Review & Quality Control
• Review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements prepared by team members for accuracy and
completeness
• Provide guidance and feedback to junior bookkeeping staff
• Ensure client deliverables meet CFOLogic quality standards before submission
2. Bookkeeping & General Ledger Review
• Review books of accounts maintained by the team for accuracy and currency
• Review daily transactions and journal entries recorded by bookkeeping staff
• Verify completeness and accuracy of general ledger balances
3. Month-End Close & Reconciliations Review
• Review bank, credit card, and loan account reconciliations prepared by the team
• Oversee timely and accurate month-end close
• Identify and resolve discrepancies flagged during review
4. AP/AR & Expense Review
• Review vendor bills, payments, and customer invoicing processed by the team
• Review collections, employee reimbursements, and expense entries
• Ensure timely and organized AP/AR processing through periodic review
5. Financial Reporting & Payroll Review
• Review financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow before client delivery
• Review payroll entries and W-2/1099 processing for accuracy
• Review client-ready financial reports prepared by the tea
6. Client Communication & Coordination
• Act as a point of contact for client queries related to accounting data
• Support client reporting with clear explanations and timely responses
• Maintain professional communication with internal and external stakeholders
7. Compliance & Documentation Review
• Review fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations
• Ensure proper documentation for IRS, audit, and tax requirements
• Enforce internal controls and compliance processes
Who We're Looking For
To qualify for the role, you must have:
• More than 3 years of experience in US accounting and bookkeeping, including at least 2 years of relevant reviewer or
quality-review experience
• Good understanding of US accounting processes and month-end close, with the ability to review and correct work
prepared by others
• Exposure to client reporting and client-facing communication
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
• Tech-savvy with experience in accounting tools (QuickBooks, Xero, or similar)
• Detail-oriented with strong ownership and accountability
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and meet deadlines
• High standards of confidentiality and data integrity
